New Year and the whole package

I shared my new year resolution plan for year 2009 with my very close group of friends on Jan 1, 2009...I completely forgot about it but I just pulled up that email, thanks to Google that I do not have to delete any email...it gives me a chance to compare how I fared according to my own expectations, not that its imp but its FUN:)

This is part of the email:

Folks,

You may think of me as silly, immature or whatever for sharing this....but here I am with my list of things in my mind for 2009....you guys can share whats on your mind too, it would be fun, we all can make fun of each other at the end of 2009, lol.

Sounds pretty Fancy, but come onnnn its god damn New Yr resolution, gotta be GRAND, lol
Lets see how it all worked out

- First and foremost, finish PhD

Although the task is incomplete but I think I would still give myself B+. Worked hard for it and things are looking great.

- Find a job after Graduation
Will share the good news sooooooon for real. I already have some options.

- Publish at least 2 research papers
4 publication plus 2 conferences, thats right baby

- Play 3.5 tennis league and move my level from 3.0 to 3.5+
I am already a 3.5 and made it all the way to the semi-final of 3.5 league. I was told that I could play 4.0, hehe

- Do Yoga/Meditation at least 3 times/week
Well for most part of the year I did once a week on Tue, short onmy goal but I will improve on that this year

- Stay fit by running/jogging at least 2 times/week
Competed in 8 mile run and finished in 1 hr 19 mins...I told myself before the race that 1:30 would please me and 1:20 would make me HAPPY, now you can imagine how happy I was on that day. I tried hard to compete for half marathon this year but fell short of preparation. Will do in March 2010. I also lost weight and now I am 155 lbs down from 162 and is ideal for 5'8" person

- Undertake a small project in non-profit sector
I am the project coordinator of a project AID Dallas funds. I do not have to do much in all honesty once all the funds are set up. I was more active with AID activities in 2008.

- Of course be good, honest, polite and respectful to everyone...consciously look for yourself when you tend to go off on any of these at any time....
I do not think I can judge that one...but yeah all I can say is work in progress

- Visit library every weekend for at least an hr, and read something other than research work
I did that for few months but for most part of last year I slacked off, I would give myself straight C there.

- 1 Blog / week
Damn 1 blog/week...what the hell was I thinking. Sorry I think I posted like 13-14 blogs in 2009. I am not too disappointed.

So yeah after revisiting I do not feel too bad, wow I almost thought otherwise...guess negatives dominate our mind so much that accomplishments take a back seat.

This year in addition to the unaccomplished things from last year, I would like to see myself as a better person and would concentrate on my family and friends.

It is so fun to look back on where we were a year ago, and compare/contrast. New Year's resolutions are great to look at, as they often tell us what is important to us in life. They also remind us of where we want to be, yet haven't quite reached yet. It sounds like you did great on yours from last year, congratulations!
