Such nonsense should not be encouraged

After decades of struggle and racial discrimination, eventually the ban on ANC(African National Congress) was lifted in early 1990s, thanks to the pressure in and outside SA (South Africa) for equal rights. And, to no ones surprize, Nelson Mandela, the leader of ANC was elected the president in 1994....and no surprises again that ANC has been the ruling party since then in SA...this time Mr Kgalema Motlanthe leading the group...

What I don't understand is why a party known for its peace building measures, a party known for its fight against aparthied, would deny visa to Dalai Lama

I am referring to the recent decision taken by SA gov to deny visa to Dalai Lama to attend Peace conference to be held in SA by World Cup 2010 committee.

If this is not insane enough, their 'reason' to deny the visa is even more... officials say it was done to focus on their preparation for world cup next yr...and deny any pressure from China...come on guys gimme a break...do we look that stupid to buy that...   

When you need the help from the world you cry out loud and you get it; now when its your time to give back, you shake hands with wrong people (China in this case) and look for economic gains at the price of ethics and morality...economic prosperity with compromise on morality will not lead anyone too far...many countries have experimented with in the past and ended up on the losing side eventually and we all know it quite well... in this well connected and better informed world, such practices by such irresponsible governments should be discouraged right away in whatever capacity we can, just ignoring it is not enough (opposed to our popular belief, ignoring is never enough)...

 

If no quick decision is taken or official apology is offered I might shun the World Cup to be held in SA in 2010, no rationality here but that action is in my capacity and that would be my way of venting out my resentment.
